GBC has unveiled a new partnership with the President's Malaria Initiative which will deliver sustainable malaria reduction by catalyzing private sector engagement in targeted PMI countries.

The new collaboration seeks to broaden corporate engagement and explore areas where the private sector can use it's core competencies in areas including financial management, logistics management, transportation, research and development, health workforce development, information technology, marketing and advocacy.

"Private sector malaria control activities will achieve greater results through this important new partnership with PMI," said GBC CEO and President John Tedstrom.  "By identifying, and then filling, gaps in the response in PMI-targeted countries, business will be able to effectively and efficiently scale up its own efforts, and in so doing, boost the effectiveness of PMI-supported programs."

"We must seek out opportunities to leverage public donor and private sector investments and expertise, as a strategic path to stronger programs and sustainability," said Admiral Timothy Ziemer, U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator.

Co-financing is another key tool to be utilized by the partnership, which will mobilize financial resources and in-kind contributions from the private sector to support malaria programs in PMI-targeted countries.  At the same time, the partners will identify opportunities to complement existing private sector malaria control efforts by leveraging PMI resources.

The Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa (CAMA), a GBC-hosted initiative, will serve as a complementary forum to mobilize private sector engagement with PMI.
