Community Intervention: Rio Tinto/Palabora (2008)

Executive Summary

Since 2001, Rio Tinto’s community-based HIV/AIDS program in Palabora, has reached nearly 46,000 people in high-risk areas with its HIV-prevention and education initiatives; voluntary counseling and testing services; and home-based treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. The program has benefited from multi-sector collaboration with government, other businesses, and local NGOs.
