Within the travel and tourism industry, some companies have al-ready established a commitment to address HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria, in their workplace and the home. For instance, Accor and Air France collaborated to produce a series of informational films about HIV/AIDS and malaria-and their message reached millions of global travelers. In 2006, under the leadership of GBC Board member and Accor CEO Gilles Pélisson, GBC launched a Travel and Tourism Industry Dialogue (TTID) in order to address the growing challenges that these diseases pose to the industry, its clients, and its core business partners and processes. The goal of the TTID working group is to coordinate industry efforts; to promote awareness of the risks associated with HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria; and to demonstrate how corporate-led programs can lead to real impact on the ground.

GBC created this Call to Action through the TTID, in order to provide concrete examples of what travel and tourism companies can do, at all levels of the industry, to assist in the fight against these epidemics. Through the provision of a careful selection of corporate best practices in the travel and tourism sector, GBC hopes to inspire more businesses to take real action in the global effort to fight HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria.
