Health Systems Strengthening Intervention: The Abbott Fund (2006)

Executive Summary

Since 2001, the Abbott Fund and the Government of Tanzania have formed a public-private partnership to address critical areas of need in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Abbott Fund has committed more than $50 million to strengthen Tanzania’s health systems by modernizing facilities, training health care workers and managers and expanding access to HIV testing and treatment. The Abbott Fund also supports programs to assist orphans and vulnerable children in Tanzania who have been impacted by HIV/AIDS.
