Supply Chain Intervention: Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA) (2009)

Executive Summary

The Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA), with support from GTZ, is working in collaboration with Heinekens, Unilever and the Diageo to improve the availability and accessibility of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria related services to employees and communities along the companies’ supply chains. The program is focused on expanding prevention, counseling, testing and treatment services for the employees and communities of nine select suppliers in the packaging, security and transport sectors. The program seeks to provide these suppliers with the necessary tools to combat the three diseases in their workforces and their communities by harnessing the skills and capabilities of NIBUCAA and GTZ as well as the internal resources and knowledge of the three large multinationals.

Company Overview

NIBUCAA's overarching goal is to support the private sector in establishing, implementing and expanding workplace and community-based HIV/AIDS prevention education, care and support programs. NIBUCAA is a member of the Pan African Business Coalition on HIV & AIDS (PABC) and coordinates the Nigerian private sector response to HIV/AIDS. The organization is focused on increasing the number and diversity of companies committed to addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nigeria, particularly among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
