Overview:

The Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria/Transatlantic Partners Against AIDS (GBC/TPAA), in partnership with Booz & Company, are convening a multi-stakeholder workshop to identify, launch and establish a sustainable framework to guide new public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the fight HIV/AIDS and TB in Russia, China and India.

Participants:

Approximately 30-40 leaders from the private sector, government and NGOs in Russia, China and India will gather for this important event. Panelists/participants will include the President of Coca-Cola Russia, CEO of TNK-BP, and President & Country Chairman of Shell Exploration and Production Services (R.F.). Senior government officials are also expected to participate along with NGO executives.

Key Outcomes:

The workshop will focus on how the private sector can work better in collaboration with other stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS and TB. Presentations from business, NGO and government leaders will highlight the potential, challenges and successes of such partnerships.

Primary outcomes of the workshop, which will be presented at a special session of the high-level Leaders Forum on Public-Private Partnerships on October 25th, include:

  • Identification of the key challenges and opportunities for PPPs to address the epidemics of HIV/AIDS and TB in Russia, India and China;
  • Agreement among participants on specific areas for collaboration on concrete PPPs (e.g. the Russian Media Partnership to Combat AIDS);
  • Creation of new ideas for PPPs in Russia, China and India.
