Mission:

  

Mobilize business to work together in the fight against HIV/AIDS in the workplace and community

 

Objectives:

- To increase information, knowledge and expertise on HIV/AIDS and preventive and management measures
- To strengthen leadership on HIV/AIDS and mainstreaming
- To mobilize community-led HIV/AIDS mainstreaming
- To ensure the implementation of programs and policy for HIV/AIDS prevention and protection of individuals living with HIV/AIDS
- To raise understanding of HIV/AIDS dynamics and response in the business community through research and impact assessment
- To contribute to the national and international HIV/AIDS response
- To build networks and partnerships with other organizations to counter HIV/AIDS and alleviate its impacts, especially on vulnerable groups

Services and Products Offered:

- Information-sharing activities: take place on a monthly to quarterly basis, including experience-sharing meetings, workshops, newsletters and media releases. EBCA is also working to develop a library of electronic and physical resources, and to document local business case studies and best practice examples of HIV/AIDS response.
- Community activities: include annual award ceremonies, leadership forums and HIV/AIDS exhibitions. EBCA is involved in advocacy on key business and HIV/AIDS issues, and creating partnerships to help companies and business sector HIV/AIDS committees address HIV/AIDS prevention and care. In 2006, EBCA held its first business award ceremony in which 39 companies competed for best practice and rising star awards.
- Technical support activities: include monthly practical training modules and/or workshops on HIV/AIDS workplace and community outreach programme development with about 40 companies, the ongoing development of customized toolkits on how to implement HIV/AIDS programme items, quarterly company outreach, and regular advice for companies on HIV/AIDS workplace interventions.
- Business assessment tools and reports are under development to understand HIV/AIDS problems, and monitor and evaluate the business response to HIV/AIDS, including tools to assist companies conduct HIV/AIDS surveys and impact assessments, as well as an HIV/AIDS report card and action framework to set benchmarks for the business HIV/AIDS response.
