Ghana Business Coalition on HIV & AIDS (GBCA)

 

Mission:

  

In order to mitigate the impact of HIV and AIDS on sustained profitability and economic growth, GBCA will lead:

- In establishing a network of high quality information and best practices; and
- In the building of sustainable partnerships between the private sector and other stakeholders.

 

Objectives:

1. To execute/implement workplace interventions to scale up the business sector response to HIV/AIDS
2. To serve as a central point for the formation and dissemination of views on any issue connected directly or indirectly with the HIV/AIDS pandemic in the private Sector of Ghana or elsewhere
3. To establish partnerships and networks with key stakeholders

Organization Structure:

Interim Board
Since July 2006 a functional Interim Board has been operating with 11 members. It is chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Ghana. Members include Chief Executives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Mines, Association of Ghana Industries, Association of Bankers, organized labour represented by the Ghana Trade Unions Congress, Ghana Employers Association, State Enterprises Commission, Private Enterprise Foundation, Ghana AIDS Commission and Ghana Social Marketing Foundation. The Board is the policy decision-making body.

Technical Committee
The Technical Committee plays an advisory role to the Board

Secretariate
A Secretariate has been established. The Secretariate when fully operational will have an initial core staff of six including a Program Director, Two Programme Officers, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Finance and an Administrative Secretary.
