Ranks 6th Worldwide

A survey conducted by the Financial Times in collaboration with the UN Global Compact and Dalberg Global Development Consultants that assesses the value of business partnerships with NGOs and the United Nations ranks GBC sixth in a survey of nearly 500 such organizations.

The ranking highlights GBC's ability to implement corporate partnerships and to surpass expectations and effectively leverage its widely-recognized best practices standards in the private sector fight against HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria.

National Business Coalitions Now Accessible in One Location

The National Connections Initiative was developed to provide a rich source of information about regional and national coalitions, including information on their missions, structures, members and achievements.

GBC's National Connections initiative seeks to benefit national business coalitions through advocacy, specialized services, and access to a network of more than 200 leading international companies. Additionally, the program aims to organize businesses at the national level, partnering and providing leadership to business response strategies and facilitating linkages with other global private sector efforts.

The program's greatest strength may be its acknowledgement that gender roles facilitate HIV/AIDS, that men must assume responsibility for their behavior and that women must be empowered to protect themselves.

Increased HIV Research Funding at Stake

A key outcome of the International AIDS Society Conference is the Sydney Declaration, which states that "ten per cent of all resources dedicated to HIV programming should be used for research towards optimizing interventions utilized and health outcomes achieved."
