Companies are invited to apply for the 2008 GBC Awards for Business Excellence. Winners will be announced at GBC's annual gala on June 9th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
Eight companies will join an impressive list of previous winners recognized for outstanding initiatives. Among last year's winners: Abbott and Abbott Fund, Chevron, Coca-Cola China Beverages Limited, Eli Lilly & Company, Eskom Holdings Ltd, HBO, Marathon Oil Corporation and Standard Chartered PLC.

Packed with high-quality features focusing on successful programs and actionable steps, the Fall/Winter issue of our bi-annual magazine Business Action will embody GBC's new strategy - a member-driven agenda for deepening collective impact.
The publication will examine collaborative business approaches to resolve urgent global health needs, addressing key gaps in the global response to HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria. Articles will highlight myriad issues such as intravenous drug use in Russia and Ukraine, the feminization of HIV/AIDS, tech toys as health interventions, and a new workplace policy toolkit, among others.

New GBC Resource Guides Members to Develop Comprehensive Workplace Polices |

GBC’s new online workplace policy resource provides tools for establishing antidiscrimination policies, awareness programs and drug treatment for employees. These policies are a fundamentally important component of the business fight.
HSBC and Virgin Group have recently launched workplace policies in close collaboration with GBC, while other companies like Deutsche Post, Mylan Pharmaceuticals, and AIG Kenya have utilized GBC’s expertise in developing their policies. GBC’s new online tool can help your company begin implementing its own workplace policy to safeguard its most valuable resource: Its employees.

New Media Partnership Will Increase Awareness, Promote Dialogue |
The China Media AIDS Partnership (CHAMP), which begins development this month, has put the pieces in place to coordinate and leverage the core competencies of media companies to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS in the world's largest nation.
CHAMP is integral component of GBC's overall China agenda, which has already reached more than 1 million Chinese citizens. The partnership will build upon proven techniques, like those learned from the successful Russia Media Partnership launched last year by TPAA/GBC Russia, with financial support from The Coca-Cola Company and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.

Oil Giant to Invest $30 Million in Global Fund Activities |

Chevron Corporation has been named the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria's inaugural Corporate Champion, marking the launch of an innovative new program that will transform the way multinational corporations invest in the fight against these diseases. GBC worked with Chevron and the Global Fund to produce the agreement.
The Global Fund cited Chevron's commitment to engaging on critical health issues as key to being named as a champion, including the company's standout workplace programming, which last year was formally recognized by GBC as best in class.
