November 18 Call Will Outline Opportunity

U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator Mark Dybul will discuss opportunities for Coalition members through the Kenya initiative. He will also outline the workings of PEPFAR's new Partnerships for Life program, the source of the Kenya funding.

Oil and Gas Majors and Contractors Co-Create Action Plan
Top priorities for a united fight against HIV/AIDS up and down the supply chain—and specifics on how to act on those priorities—emerged from a Coalition-organized supply-chain round table for the oil and gas industry in London last month in partnership with OGP/IPIECA, Royal Dutch Shell and Booz & Company. The Coalition will guide follow-through to enable the industry to implement plans, and expects that tools produced in the process will have value for other industries.

In a co-investment plan with government of Equatorial Guinea, Marathon Oil made the single-largest commitment to fight malaria in Africa. The Marathon financing jump-started a $100 million capital campaign on malaria being undertaken by the Coalition and its partners.

Coalition member support helped produce the Testing 411 PSA campaign, which has now been nominated for an Emmy Award. The PSA was created in partnership with HBO, the Kaiser Family Foundation, and the NBA.

Leaders at Coalition co-organized event agree more business action is needed to meet MDGs
The Coalition represented its members as co-sponsor of a high-profile reception held in New York at the time of the high-level MDG meeting at the United Nations in September. Coalition President and CEO Richard Holbrooke appeared alongside UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, UN Special Envoy on Malaria Ray Chambers, UN Foundation President Tim Wirth, Bill Gates, and Bono, who all spoke on progress and priorities in the drive to achieve the Millennium Development Goals on schedule.
